Portland’s Tryon Creek State Park: Urban Hiker’s Paradise

If you’re looking for some of Portland’s best hiking trails, head out to Tryon Creek State Park, and take along your dogs. They will be most thankful and you’ll get a wonderful workout. Or maybe you’ll stroll peacefully along the more level paths, not wanting to hike the hills. I’ve been tromping through this 670 acre park, which straddles SW Portland and Lake Oswego, for at least 25 years! I have the advantage of living a block away, so I head in, rain or shine (or snow sometimes), about 5 times a week with Ted, my pooch. That would be Ted’s walk of choice (the neighborhood streets don’t offer as many diverse smells). 8 miles of hiking trails keep us busy. Life gets mighty entertaining when we venture along the horse trails and come across one of those big beasts. The 3 mile bike path might appeal to you if you don’t want to go on foot.

Be ready for surprises…..I’m not sure which was more exciting to spot, the deer we saw last week that bounded away through the bushes, so close to our trail, or the great blue herons we’ve seen several times, swooping along the creek. I know some very patient folks who discovered where the owl nests were this Spring and kept a keen watch on them.

We don’t often make it to the Nature Center, but maybe you should! You can learn lots from the educational exhibits. If you’re wheelchair bound, check out the .35 mile paved trail through the woods. Really, there’s a reason for everybody to explore this beautiful natural environment. Find yours!!

Exuberant father, eXp Realty agent and big fan of life in Portland.

I’ve prepared some quick details to help you decide whether to read further. After all, the point of the bio page is to help you, the consumer, interview me without all the mess of actually meeting me in person, right? I’ll do my best to impress you right away so we can begin the process of finding your new home! I am originally from Santa Barbara, California…judge me harshly, if you must, but not all Californians live up to the negative stereotype. My professional background is in marketing project management, and I have been focused on residential real estate for the past 3 years. Not exactly a grizzled veteran, I admit, but I know what I’m doing. Plus, I have a great team behind me here at eXp Realty. In a larger sense, working with me is really working with all of us.

I love dogs. One of the many reasons I chose to live in Portland was its evident community affinity for dogs and dog-people. Around here, you can take your dogs just about anywhere…not just parks. Quite a few local shops and restaurants are also happy to have them. They don’t necessarily let them sit right at the table (usually under)…but still.

I have a daughter who is amazing and beautiful in every way…like all daughters. I’m not saying she’s better or cuter than yours, but she is. See?

I love real, down to Earth people. Though I tend to think of myself as a pretty simple guy, but I can always find happiness in the thought that I am a real person, always trying to better myself. I think that’s really what sets Portland apart from so much of the world- The people. Everywhere you go in the Portland area there are kind, interesting and genuine people who you can actually stop and have conversations with. It’s the coolest thing… They’re all just so nice!

I love working in real estate. When I first moved to Portland, my wife and I tried to do it all by ourselves. We searched for homes and neighborhood information on the internet…we bounced from site to site, trying to figure out where to look. It was a lot of work. That’s why, when I got into the business I decided to make it my goal to simplify the buying process as much as possible, especially for prospective buyers relocating from other areas. Now, with the help of eXp Realty’s fantastic web presence, I have the ability to really make a difference for people. I pride myself on being able to turn an otherwise stressful, time-consuming ordeal into a fun, exciting and streamlined process that my clients can actually enjoy, rather than fear.

Spring is Coming to Wilsonville!

Wow, time is really flying by. I just looked up and realized it was February, my favorite month. My hometown, Wilsonville, is busy preparing for Spring and all of the wonderful activities it brings. On the Willamette river, boats are going into the water at Wilsonville docks. Charbonneau and Langdon Farm Golf Clubs are drying out their courses, with some great tournaments planned.

What is happening in Wilsonville real estate?

20 homes sold in Wilsonville since January 1st.
First time home buyer credit extended until April 30th, with closings allowed through June 30th. Now is the time to get out there and find your new home and get that great tax break!
A new area of Villebois has opened for sale. (call me for details!) NW Oregon’s premier urban village is really starting to take shape, with beautifully landscaped green areas, parks and tree-lined avenues.
Wilsonville Meadows prices are still holding up. Even in this tough market, the popularity of this wonderful community has helped to keep it’s value strong and steady.
